This is good for 94 MPGe and 38 mpg (when running as a traditional hybrid). It delivers 42 miles of all-electric range and 600 miles of overall range. Sure, the RAV4 Prime is heavier due to its 18.1-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, but that stored up power waiting for the touch of the accelerator makes the RAV4 Prime downright peppy off the line. That’s 99 more horsepower than the RAV4 and 83 more than the RAV4 Hybrid. The2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that generate a combined 302 horsepower. It has a long list of standard features, including safety technology, that puts most other automakers with entries in the compact SUV category to shame. That being said, there are some excellent things about the RAV4. Oh, and that terrible grinding noise that the RAV4 Hybrid makes when it’s running in EV mode would be changed to something that doesn’t sound like the car is malfunctioning. If it were great, its seats would be more comfortable, its engine would be more powerful, and less road noise would be passed into the cabin. It is perfect suitable and serviceable as a daily driver-slash-mommy hauler. Per Toyota Canada’s price sheet, this tester costs $45,125 Canadian.The Toyota RAV4 is not a great SUV. (adding the Advanced Tech package, Weather package, and the 11-speaker JBL audio system) would cost $42,095.
By my research, the closest RAV4 you can get to this one in the U.S. There aren’t any options packages for the Limited it comes mostly loaded save for the U.S.-available panoramic roof, which doesn’t seem to be available at all in Canada. The RAV4 tested is a Canadian-market car, and the options packages are a bit different. Spring for the Limited AWD version-which starts at $38,090-and Toyota throws in shiny 19-inch alloys, LED fog lights, a darker front grille, black roof rails, a seven-inch screen in the gauge cluster, a nine-inch infotainment system, heated and ventilated SofTex seats, five USB ports, and an interior with silver door handles and more leather and stitching throughout. That car comes with the same 2.5-liter engine as this top model, along with front-wheel drive, keyless entry, fabric seats, 17-inch steelies with hubcaps, power windows with auto up/down for all four, three USB ports, and a seven-inch touchscreen. In base LE form, the Toyota RAV4 starts at $28,190.
